Each of our HHA board members have additional focus areas that they monitor to ensure our members remain well informed and are provided services when needed.

Policy

Chaired by Charlie & Alice Ka'ahanui

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana, our Chairperson is responsible for ensuring our members are notified of OHA, DHHL, and HHC meetings and or hearings that would be of interest.

Education

Chaired by Justin & Kilia Avelino

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana, our Chairperson is responsible for ensuring our members and their families have access to educational activities, specifically aimed at improving food systems and policies. Justin and Kilia founded the Ho'olehua Agricultural Youth Council which has now expanded to the Molokai Agricultural Youth Council. Molokai children ages 12-18 are welcome to join.

Health & Wellness

Chaired by Tricia & Matt Mersberg

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana, our Chairperson is responsible for seeking out programs and/or appropriate funding to assist our HHA members in maintaining their health and wellness. Since we have limited funds, and a plethora of needs, we are currently focused on the health of our most vulnerable, our Kupuna and our opio.

Homesteading

Chaired by Fina Ka'auwai

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana and local support organizations, our Chairperson is responsible for ensuring opportunities are available to, and our members are aware of. Our Chairperson connects us to other farming and agricultural networks that may be of interest.

Water Rights

Chaired by Wayne Ka'auwai

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana, our Chairperson is responsible for ensuring our members are kept informed of changes that may affect our availability and/or access to irrigation systems.

Fundraising

Chaired by LuAnn Faborito

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana, our Chairperson is responsible for seeking out grant opportunities and/or fundraising events to advance our HHA mission.

Veteran Support

Chaired by Crissy Pereira

With the assistance of the entire HHA ohana and the Molokai Veterans Caring for Veterans (MVCV), our Chairperson is responsible for ensuring our Ho'olehua veterans stay abreast of veteran support agencies and offerings. Our Chairperson also functions as a conduit for any veterans that may need additional supports from the HHA and/or the MVCV.
