Consultation Opens On Act 80 - Lowering the Blood Quantum on SUCCESSORS of Lessees on Homesteads
The SCHHA announces its HBA Consultation on Act 80 will close on September 15, 2025. Act 80 is an amendment to the HHCA enacted by the Hawaii State Legislature in 2017, changing the eligibility of a Successor/Heir to a homestead lease from one quarter to one thirty-second.
Act 80 has languished for 8 years at the State DHHL and Federal DoI agencies. SCHHA is opening this HBA Consultation on Act 80, to advance the process of this HHCA Amendment pursuant to 43 CFR Part 48 and to assist the State and Federal agencies. The work is not done – let’s work together, along with our State DHHL and Federal DoI agencies to bring Act 80 to fruition. Share your manao either way!
Additional Virtual Briefing Sessions on the SCHHA’s HBA Consultation on Act 80 are scheduled for July 22 and August 26 – the zoom link is located in the HHA Calendar.
This HBA Directory & Practitioner Guide to the HHCA is intended as a resource for HBAs, Governors, Legislators, Commissioners appointed to the Hawaiian Homes Commission, employees of the State DHHL, partners, allies and all Hawaiians interested in the success of the HHCA.
