The Molokai Agricultural Youth Council(MAYC), formerly the Ho'olehua Agricultural Youth Council (HAYC), is nearing three years old! The program is open to any Molokai youth aged 12 to 18 with an interest in food systems and policies.
The MAYC's community service and malama 'aina principles drives them to go further than most would, to protect our precious resources. They aptly served at the 2025 annual Earth Day celebration; sorting and separating food waste for livestock, recyclable containers, compostable, and non-compostable material.
The goal is not only to recycle and compost to reduce our landfill waste, but also as a teaching opportunity for the community. These future leaders are setting an example that will permeate for years.
Thanks to our dedicated keiki and makua that donate their many hours to invigorate this endangered practice of "malama 'aina."
